Alterations and Endorsements in Passports/ Change the Name in the Passport after Marriage

 The Consulate General of Sri Lanka, Geneva is authorised to make certain alterations and endorsements on passports with the approval of Controller / Immigration & Emigration, Colombo. This includes changing a name in a passport after marriage. 

Documents Required:

Duly filled Application (Click here for the Application for Alterations (Form O)

Current Sri Lankan passport and one photocopy of the data page of the passport

Original Marriage Certificate (Not family book) and one photocopy OR original birth certificate and one photocopy as applicable

Swiss Resident Permit/Visa and one photocopy

One self-addressed envelope with CHF 6.80 stamp.

Photocopies of all the above documents should be in the A4 size.

Prescribed Fee: CHF 12/- Please note that consular fees for services should not be paid until this Mission verifies relevant documents in order to avoid erroneous payments.

  • The Consulate General is open from Monday to Friday from 09.30 a.m. - 01.00 p.m.

Notes:

  • This Consulate General is not responsible for any document lost in the post.

  • Submission of forged documents and making false declarations relating to citizenship is a punishable offence. Fees will not be refunded in these circumstances.

  • Incomplete applications will be returned and consular fees will not be refunded.

  • The process will take about 1 month from the date of application.
