Palestinians are grateful for the President of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa for the contribution he made during the last 30 years. As an expression of gratitude, the Municipal Council of Beitunia has named a road after him – "H.E Mahinda Rajapaksa Road."The head of the Daawa and Tableegh Al – Haj, Jamal Ali Saleh Sulaiman welcomed Sri Lanka’s Representative in Palestine Dr. T. Jayasinghe and expressed his gratitude to the government of Sri Lanka for opening a Representative Office, as an expression of solidarity with the people of Palestine. Daawa and Tableegh Center, located at Beit – Our Tehta, Ramallah, Palestine, is visited by Islamic clerics from all over the world. The reception to Sri Lanka’s Representative was held in this centre.
Jamal Ali Saleh Sulaiman, said that Palestinians are grateful to the President of Sri Lanka, Mahinda Rajapaksa for the contribution he made during the last 30 years. He also said, as an expression of gratitude the Municipal Council of Beitunia has named a road - "H.E Mahinda Rajapaksa Road.He further stated that some members of the Center had been to Sri Lanka and that he would like to invite Sri Lanka Muslim clerics to visit Palestine.
If they visit they will be looked after by the center he said. Sri Lanka Representative Dr. T. Jayasinghe in his reply stated that Sri Lanka will continue to be with the struggle of the Palestinians. He also said that the government of Sri Lanka will be funding an important project in the Ministry of Education of Palestine. Mr. Siraj Ahamed of the Representative Office of Sri Lanka too was present.
