COMMANDER of the Army Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka flew to Vavuniya Saturday (9) morning to meet Wanni ground commanders in order to asses the security situation in the area.
Army Commander was received by the Commander Security Forces Headquarters Wanni (SFHQ-W) Major General Jagath Jayasuriya who briefed him the security developments in newly captured areas.
Army Commander assessed the security measures in operation in Divisions and Brigades after listening to briefings of respective Commanders.
