President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday pointed out that the Attorney General's Department should guide the Government correctly in legal matters. President Rajapaksa was addressing senior officials of the Attorney General's Department at Temple Trees.
The President noted that the Government was very keen to ensure the rights of the public and the A-G's Department should assist the legal course of action in fundamental rights cases.
The Department is also entrusted with the task of helping the Courts in instances of legal action against terrorist acts.
He also highlighted the need for the Police to work closely with the judiciary and the A-G's Department to mete out justice to the masses. They should win the confidence of the people.
Presidential Advisor MP Basil Rajapaksa, Presidential Secretary Lalith Weeratunga, Attorney General C.R. De Silva, PC and several other officials were present.
