Thursday, 05 June 2008

One of suspects in the bomb explosion in the Wasala area in Wellawatte on the rail track, has been arrested. The explosion took place at around 7.15 this morning (04th June). The incident is being investigated.

The incident happened when the train which left Dehiwela at 6.35 am was passing the Wasala Ebernation Road in Wellawatte. Initial investigations have bared that a certain individual had placed the parcel containing the bomb on the rail track and triggered the explosion with a remote control. Several persons who were suspicious about this suspect had given chase, when he had thrown the bag which he possessed, opposite house No. 20b on the Ebernation Road.

A communication equipment and some items were recovered from this bag. The Police said they are carrying out the investigations based on these detections.

Defence Analysts claim that the LTTE outfit is demented over the severe setbacks it had experienced. As such, the public are urged to be on the ball.
