China does not approve of the conditions put forward by European and other western countries, to provide aid to Sri Lanka, China's Additional Foreign Minister He Yafei said.

Speaking at a press conference held for a group of visiting South Asian journalists at the Foreign Ministry office in Beijing he said in the same way most western countries point fingers at Sri Lanka citing human rights violations, they level charges against China.

He said China would continue its aid to Sri Lanka without conditions being imposed. He also assured there was no hidden agenda behind China continuing itʼs assistance to Sri Lanka.  He pointed out there was enough and more human rights violations being committed by the very same countries pointing their fingers at Sri Lanka citing human rights issues and said it is unfair for them to do so. He said the biggest human rights violation a country can commit is not provide food, shelter and employment to its citizens. He noted that due to correct planning in the last 30 years the Chinese government has been successful in fighting poverty that existed in the country.
