Czech tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka are expected to double next year.

In an interview with Lankapuvath, the team leader of a visiting Czech delegation, Hana Sklenerova said that Czech arrivals recorded around 5,000 last year. A team of professionals in the field of Tourism in the Czech Republic arrived in Sri Lanka Yesterday to promote Sri Lankan tourism there.

“The delegation expects to increase these numbers by one hundred percent during next few years with this promotional programme,” she said. She said the team is scheduled to visit key places of tourist attraction in Sri Lanka comprising the culture, wild life so as the beaches to publish articles about Sri Lanka in one of the leading tourist magazines FISCHER to promote and portray the country’s tourism industry among the Czech nationals.

Meanwhile the Editor of the FISCHER magazine, the leading Tourism Magazine and spokesperson for this team Pavla told Lankapuvath that there is no reason for Czech Republicans to avoid planning their vacations to Sri Lanka since it is a very beautiful country that is rich in hospitality.

She also stressed that since there were mixed views of Sri Lanka, some try to portray it as a war zone. “But we have observed there is nothing like that and we will carry the message back to the Czech Republic,” she said. (Lankapuvath)
