Prime Minister Rathnasiri Wickremanayake said Sri Lanka will possess one of the strong agricultural economies in the world as a result of the government’s successful agricultural programmes.

The government has already taken initiatives to develop the agricultural sector in the northern and eastern provinces.

An increased agricultural production is expected from these areas in the near future. The prime minister also said that in addition to the agricultural sector, there is a large potential for the development of the fisheries industry.

The prime minister expressed these views when he met a group of US investors at his office yesterday. Tourism industry in the country is already experiencing a boost with the end of 30-year long conflict. The Prime Minister added that the international community has extended their fullest cooperation to Sri Lanka to achieve its future development goals. Courtesy: news.lk
