Sri Lanka President meets world leaders at NAM summit

 July 16, Sharm-el-Sheik, Egypt: On the sidelines of the 15th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit held at the Red Sea resort town of Sharm-el-Sheik, Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa today held bilateral meetings with several heads of state.  

The President met with the Indian Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh at the Maritim Jolie Ville Golf & Resort in the Sharm El Sheikh today and appraised the PM of the current situation of the displaced people in Sri Lanka and the government’s efforts to reconstruct the North and resettle the people within 180 days.

India recently pledged a US$ 100 million assistance to Sri Lanka for the rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons in government transit facilities.  

President Rajapaksa also held bilateral discussions with the President of South Africa, Jacob Zuma.
