COMMANDER OF THE ARMY, Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka soon after his arrival in the country following a successful Pakistani tour met ground commanders in Wanni frontier this morning (10) when he flew to Vavuniya with several senior officers from the Army Headquarters.
Commander, Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni (SFHQ-W) Major general Jagath Jayasuriya received the visiting military chief on his arrival and guided him to the SF HQ-W auditorium where he met a gathering of senior Ground Commanders who briefed him on the security situation in their respective areas.
Lieutenant General Fonseka evaluating latest developments in the area further discussed matters of concern to the soldiers and measures that should be adopted in fighting the enemy while keeping the safety of the local population in mind.Matters related to the welfare of the soldiers deployed in the area were also taken up for speedy resolution. Commander of the Army and his retinue returned to Colombo same evening.
