The Grama Niladhari of Oddusudan lost his life when he attempted to enter the cleared area along with his relatives and neighbours after LTTE terrorists started firing at them.

Akahaiya Kayadeewan, 28, sustained injuries and later died due to heavy bleeding though his relatives tore their clothes and bandaged the gun shot wounds. However, his relatives and neighbours have managed to flee from the uncleared area with the body of their colleague.

The troops on the front line have received them and provided treatment to the others who sustained injuries. The body was sent to the Vavuniya General Hospital.

Meanwhile, the troops yesterday discovered that the Iranapalai Roman Catholic School on the Iranapalai - Puthumathala road had been used as a stronghold of the LTTE.

The classrooms had been converted to bunkers and all resources provided by the government to the school to enhance education in the area were misappropriated to sow the seeds of hatred, separatism and terrorism among the communities.

Moreover, the right of the children living in the North to have education has been deprived by LTTE terrorists by converting key educational institute in the Mullaittivu district to a terrorist den.
