President Mahinda Rajapaksa directed Foreign Minister, Rohitha Bogollagama to call on Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and convey Sri Lanka's deepest concerns to the families of the Pakistani security officers and civilians killed in Tuesday's attack.

Foreign Minister also stressed the importance of bringing the perpetrators to justice.

During the meeting, Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari expressed his sympathies to the players, particularly to those who were injured. The President assured the Sri Lankan Foreign Minister that all relevant information regarding the investigation process will be shared with the Sri Lankan government.

“Though a victim of terrorism, this is the first time that Sri Lankan nationals have been targeted outside Sri Lanka for the past two decades,” Minister Bogollagama said.

"Targeting our Cricketers is a cause for deep concern and we need to look into this matter thoroughly to understand the motive behind the attack,” Foreign Minister Bogollagama said.

Sri Lankan government has not ruled out a possible involvement of the LTTE Tamil Tigers in the attack as Pakistan is a strong ally of Sri Lankan government's war against the LTTE.
