784 more Tamil civilians reach troops of 58 Division

 Seven hundred and eighty four Tamil civilians who were kept as hostages by the LTTE terrorists have crossed over to liberated areas from the north of Puthukudiyirippu in Mullaittivu yesterday, 10 February, amidst heavy beating and shooting by the LTTE terrorists, defence sources said.  

The innocent Tamil civilians reached troops of 58 Division, defence sources in battlefront said.

The civilians were directed to the welfare centres established in Vavuniya after providing them with meals and medical treatment, defence sources further said.

 

Last morning (10 Feb), 19 civilians have been killed and 75 others wounded in the cowardly LTTE attack at the civilians seeking refuge with the soldiers in Udayarkattukualam. Among the dead are 2 children, 5 women, and 12 males. Another 28 children, 30 women and 17 men have suffered injuries. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Army Task Force 2 soldiers operating west of Puthukkuduyiruppu, in Mullaittivu district have rescued 1046 Tamil civilians escaping the LTTE human shield in Wanni.
