Aborigines in Dambana will be treasured- Minister Geethanjana Gunawardena

 (Colombo Lankapuvath, December 23) Minister of Housing Geethanjana Gunawardena said that special attention of the government is focused on the conservation of the Aborigines and Rs. 50 million has been allocated with this in mind.

The Minister also said that through the conservation programme the natural environment, the normal life style and the livelihood of the aborigines will be preserved.


The Minister made these observations as he made a visit to the village of the aborigines to inquire on their problems.


 The main purpose of the Government is to provide a permanent shelter for all the natives and the government’s special focus is mainly on the rural areas he said.


In his visit to Dambana, the Minister met Uruwarige Wannila Atthan   (Present Vaddha Chief) and discussed about the problems faced by his community. The chief also said that there is a shortage of the raw material to build their cottages.
