Seventeen More from Paranthan Seek Security under Troops

Tuesday, 18 November 2008

Jaffna: SEVENTEEN more civilians tired of living under the jackboot of the LTTE in un-cleared PARANTHAN areas finally exited and arrived in cleared areas of VIDATTALPALAI in JAFFNA Monday (17) morning.

The group on two dinghies included four little girls, one little boy, five males and seven women. There were three teenage boys among the males.

Army troops serving the area received the group early Monday (17) morning and provided them with basic requirements before they were conducted to the IDP (Internally Displaced Persons) centre in the area.

Those civilians with a few of their baggage had told the troops that the decision to quit LTTE areas was prompted due to LTTE atrocities and their attempts for conscription.
