Committee Against Torture Considers Report of Sri Lanka

Consideration of the Fifth Periodic Report of Sri Lanka under the Committee Against Torture (CAT) took place at the 59th Session of the Committee Against Torture, held at the Palais Wilson in Geneva, on 15-16 November 2016. Hon. Jayantha Jayasuriya, PC, Attorney General of Sri Lanka and Leader of the Sri Lanka delegation introduced the report.

 

The Sri Lanka delegation to the review included Ambassador Dr. Rohan Perera, Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations in New York, Ambassador Ravinatha Aryasinha, Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations in Geneva, Mr. Sarath Jayamanne, PC, Addl. Solicitor General, Attorney General’s Department, Mr. Nerin Pulle, Deputy Solicitor General, Attorney General’s Department, Mrs. Samantha Jayasuriya, Deputy Permanent Representative Sri Lanka, Mr. Ajith Rohana, Deputy Inspector General, Legal Division, Department of Police, Mr. Sisira Mendis, Chief of National Intelligence, Ministry of Defence, Ms. Shashika Somaratne, Counsellor, Ms. Dilini Gunasekera, Second Secretary and Ms. M.L.F. Mafusa, Second Secretary, Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka.
