Bag Found in IOM Site Contains C-4 Explosives & Detonators PDF Print E-mail

VAVUNIYA: ARMY Troops Tuesday (14) around 6.30 p.m. on a piece of information received from a civilian detected a bag with C-4 explosives, detonators and a wire length, said to have been delivered to someone working in the UN International Organization for Migrants (IMO) sponsored project for constructions of temporary shelters in KURUMANKADU, VIRAWAPULIYANKULAM, VAVUNIYA.The bag in question has been brought to the site on 26 September 2008 by an unidentified person and handed it over to another party on the site.

However, a civilian who has observed this unattended bag has Tuesday (14) evening informed the nearest Army troops about it. Troops with the Police arrived at the scene and found the bag had a false bottom with 1.5 kg of C-4 explosives, one 3 m length detonator code and four electric detonators. Police are on the look out for the recipient of the bag.
