Former President Wijetunga’s funeral today PDF Print E-mail

 Former President D.B. Wijetunga’s remains will be taken to the Parliament Complex today (25) and will lie in-state there from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The funeral will take place at 3 pm at the Kandy Municipal Grounds in Getambe under state patronage.

Meanwhile, as a mark of respect to the former President Wijetunga, all Government schools and pirivenas in the Kandy District will remain closed today, the Ministry of Public Administration announced. Liquor outlets and meat stalls in the Udunuwara, Gangawata Koralaya and Yatinuwara Divisional Secretariat Divisions will also be closed today.

As a mark of respect to the late leader the national flag will be flown at half mast at all the State institutions.
