Sri Lanka Military tells LTTE to surrender PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 19 August 2008

The military yesterday called on the LTTE cadres to surrender giving up their arms and said action would be taken to rehabilitate them.
We are calling on the LTTE cadres, who were fighting in the northern region to surrender to the military as soon as possible, military Spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said.

He said messages had been sent to these cadres through several media already. He revealed there were a large number of young cadres who had been forcibly kept by the LTTE leadership to fight against the military.

Meanwhile, the spokesman also urged the remaining people in the uncleared areas to come to the cleared areas.

He said action had been taken to provide accommodation and other basic needs for them.

Some hundreds of people have already arrived in the cleared areas despite the LTTE preventing them from fleeing.
