UN Security Officers Assess Jaffna Situation PDF Print E-mail

 ASSESSMENT OF security situation and contribution of the Security Forces for restoration of peace and civil life were among major spheres of attention for a two-member UN delegation when they visited Jaffna recently.

Commander Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna (SFHQ-J) Major General G.A. Chandrasiri after receiving them at the SFHQ-J held a round of discussions Mr. Benjmin Owusu Fir Empo, Security Coordinating Officer UN Department of Safety and Security Asia Pacific Region and Mr. Christ Du Toist, Chief Security Advisor, UN office in Sri Lanka.

 

The visiting duo received an update in relation to sustenance of peace in the peninsula, measures and steps adopted to ensure security for the common people, supply of essentials and humanitarian services to the public and different numerous welfare projects launched by the Security Forces.         

UN officials appreciated the role undertaken by the troops and wanted to see the public are not inconvenienced as a result of the security measures in effect in the peninsula.
