 “Irrespective of the party in power the country should first survive to implement its policies, said President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday (10). President expressing his views on the UNP-JVP joint one day token strikes thanked the state sector workers for not getting into the political trap of the rival political groups who are betraying the country to gain petty political mileage .

President Mahinda Rajapaksa lauded and thanked the working class for their cooperation in thwarting the strike called by JVP and UNP.The Presidenting made these observations at a meeting with representatives of the North-Central and Sabaragamuwa Province Chambers of Commerce at Temple Trees yesterday (10).
 
President Rajapaksa stated that there had been an extended fleet of buses on the roads yesterday and the conspirators had failed miserably in attempts to disrupt any of the normal services in the country, as envisaged by them.
