LTTE’s “Tharisanam” goes off the air in Europe PDF Print E-mail

 The European telecast of “Tharisanam” television is suspended with immediate effect. It is the major propaganda arm of the LTTE.

Telecasts were carried out with the assistance of Israeli satellites. The LTTE made use of this TV channel for propaganda in Europe. It was also engaged in raising funds for the terrorist outfit. There is information that the LTTE had raised funds on a large scale to unleash attacks on the civilians.

 

As a result, the Foreign Affairs Ministry took initiatives to appraise many countries including Israel, in this respect. These also included France and Hong Kong.

 

The French satellite supported in undertaking transmissions of the LTTE TV Channel to Europe.  

Giving his views, ITN’s London correspondent Anura Medagedera reporting said the major LTTE propaganda programme named Tharisanam was telecast to the entire Europe and the rest of the world from South Gate in London, with the help of a satellite of the Israeli Government. The Israeli Government has agreed with the Foreign Minister to suspend this programme.

The well wishers had been informed that the telecast had been stopped. All the programmes aired by the LTTE went off the air from last evening.
