Sri Lanka appoints new High Commissioner to UK PDF Print E-mail

 The Government has appointed retired Supreme Court Judge Chandra Nihal Jayasinghe as the new Sri Lankan High Commissioner for the United Kingdom with effect from July 1 this year, sources of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed www.news.lk.

Kshenuka Senewiratne, has returned to Colombo after completing her tenure on the 19th of this month.
 
Supreme Court Judge Chandra Nihal Jayasinghe retired from judicial service on March 1, after serving in the legal profession for 37 years.
 
He joined the Attorney General's Department in 1971. He was appointed a Judge of the Court of Appeal in 1997, when he was serving as Deputy Solicitor General. Later, he was appointed Chairman of the Appeal Court and then a Supreme Court Judge in 2002.
 

Judge Chandra Nihal Jayasinghe was also appointed a Judge of the International War Crimes Court established by the UN Secretary General helped investigate war crimes committed by Pol Pot in Cambodia.
