KADIRGAMAR ASSASSINATION: Notice issued on LTTE leaders PDF Print E-mail

 Colombo High Court Judge Kumuduni Wickramasinghe yesterday issued notice on LTTE Leader Velupillei Prabhakaran, LTTE Intelligence Wing Leader Pottu Amman, Charles Master and Komadee Manimekala in connection with the assassination of former Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar.

The Court ordered the Notice be issued through the Inspector General of Police(IGP). The Criminal Investigation Department officials were not present when the case was taken before the Court. Former Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgarmar was assassinated by a sniper gunman at his residence in Colombo 07 on August 12, 2005.

The Attorney General filed the case against Velupillei Prabakaran, Pottu Amman alias Shiva Shankar, Charles alias Charlis Master, Komadee Manimekala alias Madee, Muttaiyah Sahadevan and Isithor Arokyanathan alias Babu for conspiring with another LTTE member Vinothan to assassinate the Former Foreign Minister and committing the murder as a result of the conspiracy made at Kilinochchi and at Colombo between January 01, 2005 and August 12, 2005. Muttaiyah Sahadevan and Isithor Arokyanathan alias Babu were produced before the Court by the Prisons Authority since they were already in remand custody.

The Defence Counsels appearing for the fifth and sixth accused submitted before the Court that the accused were not in good health and the Court ordered the Prisons Commissioner to produce them before the relevant medical officers.
