(Colombo-Lankapuvath-October 06) Tourism Ministry stated that a smart tour package for tourists would be introduced for local and foreign tourists. This package would include transport to visit striking locations of the country. 

All tourist attractions would be promoted and developed with all facilities for the benefit of tourists to spend their leisure time.

The economic benefits of the Tourism industry would be  also channeled to the people of relevant areas.

Ministry stated that a large number of tourists have reached Sri Lanka following the defeat of LTTE terrorism in the country.

Measures have also been taken to  revive hotels and develop some areas in Pasikuda, Arugambay and Nilaweli coastal belts as tourist resorts. 

Applications have been called from investors to build about 5,000- 6,000 hotel rooms in Kuchchavelli area.
