Several programs are underway to encourage and motivate children and youth in the North to engage in Sports activities, said Minister of Sports and Public Recreation Gamani Lokuge today (27).

Minister Lokuge made this observation  at a ceremony organized to distribute Sports equipments to children and youth in welfare centers in the Chettikulam relief villages.

He said that three large sports grounds will be setup in Jaffna, Kilinochchi and Vavuniya respectively.

Minster Lokuge distributed sports items to 90 sports clubs that functions in these transitional centers.

These items were distributed among 22 clubs in Kadirgamar relief village, 19 in Ananda Kumaraswami relief village, 31 in Arunachalam relief village, and another 18 in Zone 4 of the same relief village.
