In recognition of the services rendered to the Motherland in eliminating terrorsim from the Sri Lankan soil by Army Commander General Sarath Fonseka and Navy Commander Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda in the war against terrorism, President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday promoted General Fonseka as the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and Admiral Karannagoda as the National Security Advisor with effect from July 15. On the same day, Major General Jagath Jayasuriya is to take over as the Army Commander and Rear Admiral Tisara Samarasinghe as the Navy Commander. Courtesy:dailynews.lk |
