The National  Archeological Week will get underway from July 7-13 with a two day exhibition and a seminar at Mayurapada Vidyalaya, Narammala in the North Western Province (Wayamba).


The national symposium of this event at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute will be patronised by the Minister of Cultural Affairs and National Heritage,Mahinda Yapa Abeywardene.

All arrangements to have the National Archeological Week in a colorful manner is being handled by the Director General of Archeology, Dr.Senarath Dissanayake.

 

The exhibition at Narammala will feature artefacts and findings unearthed from the Wayamba region.

The  Archeological Department has planned to explore sites of archeological importance in the Northern Province with 25 new sites being identified and earmarked.
 


Another 2400 new sites will be identified during the  National Archeology Week. (MP)
