The Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), expresses its strongest condemnation of the Coup d’état carried out in the early hours of yesterday morning, Sunday 28 June, against the Constitutional President of the Republic of Honduras, a sister nation that is a full member of the Non-Aligned Movement. The Coordinating Bureau categorically rejects the breach of the democratic constitutional order that has taken place in the Republic of Honduras, as well as all violent actions against the people and legitimate Government of that country.
By reaffirming its adherence to the Principles and Purposes governing the Non-Aligned Movement, including the Principle of the rejection of unconstitutional change of governments, the Coordinating Bureau calls upon the international community to strongly condemn the coup in the Republic of Honduras. The Coordinating Bureau expresses its full and unconditional support to and solidarity with the people and constitutional Government of the Republic of Honduras in the current circumstances, and calls for the reinstatement of the Rule of Law in said country and the immediate and unconditional reinstatement of the legitimate representative of the Honduran people, President Manuel Zelaya.
