Fisheries boost in Mannar PDF Print E-mail

 Fishing activities in Mannar have recorded a boost after restrictions imposed on the industry were lifted and speedy growth is expected in the fishing industry of the North and East provinces, Ministry of Fisheries revealed.

They pointed out that measures will be taken to provide concessions for those who engaged in the fishing industry in the Mannar district. 250 million rupees have been allocated for projects to be implemented in Mannar and the estimated cost will be used to develop infrastructure in the fisheries sector. 

In addition, fishermen are earning a fair price for their production as their catch is allowed to be transported to Colombo.
