MANNAR: ARMY TROOPS forging ahead in the northerly direction in the areas surrounding ADAMPAN town area entered another decisive phase in their mission this morning (9) when they entered the heart of the town, thus bringing the entire area now under the full control of the ground troops.

Loss of ADAMPAN town, defended by Tiger terrorists offering heavy resistance considers a detrimental blow to the failing LTTE organization as well as to its leaders, now desperately trying to survive on the diktats of their megalomaniac assassin Prabhakaran.

It was on Thursday (8) the troops reached the perimeter surrounding the town centre after moving in from three different directions and threw a security net ringing the entire area.

Army troops on reaching the area found many LTTE defence constructions all over the areas with heavily fortified bunkers and trenches, from where Tiger terrorists were used to direct heavy fire on the troops.

Terrorists using all state property and religious places surrounding ADAMPAN centre, as their defensive locations had planted booby traps and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in the area, after forcing hundreds of local civilians to flee their dwellings.

Two soldiers sacrificed their lives in their victory over terrorists and another seven were wounded in action.

Early reports said at least fifteen Tigers died during the clashes and the troops are now in the process of consolidating their positions as this edition went for pasting.
