President Mahinda Rajapaksa is expected to announce in his address to Parliament tomorrow, the government’s desire to bring an early end to the ethnic conflict, through a political package, now that the main obstacle of LTTE terrorism has been totally eradicated. All Party Representative Committee (APRC) Chairman, Science and Technology Minister Prof. Tissa Vitarana told Daily Mirror that President Rajapaksa had a discussion with him last morning on the subject. He confirmed that President Rajapaksa is determined to resolve the ethnic issue through a political dialogue as early as possible. “The APRC has an added responsibility now as the government keeps hopes on the final draft of the APRC which expects to introduce a set of proposals including a new Constitution which meet the aspirations of all communities, the Tamil speaking people in particular,” he stressed.
