Colombo: Sri Lanka yesterday called on the international media institutions not to distort actual ground situation by relying on news items posted by the pro-LTTE websites.

Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Palitha Kohona said that these media institutions are not only abetting terrorism but also violating laws in their countries since most of these countries have banned the LTTE.

He also said that the troops have rescued a large number of civilians who were held hostage by the LTTE. Dr. Kohona also called on the Tamil Diaspora to understand the ground reality and request them to stop their present violent campaigns as they do not alleviate the problems civilians facing in the country but in fact hurt their rescue.
