President warmly received at the Queen Alia International Airport- Jordan PDF Print E-mail

 His Excellency President Mahinda Rajapaksa was received by the Minister of Industry and Trade of Jordan, Amer Hadidi at the Royal Pavilion of Queen Alia International Airport now, our Correspondent from Amman said.

 

President Rajapaksa was accorded a Guard of Honour by the Royal Jordanian Armed Forces on his arrival at the airport.

President Rajapaksa is on a two day official visit to the Kingdom of Jordan at the invitation of King Abdullah II of Jordan to participate at the G-11 summit scheduled to be held in Jordan. 

The World Economic Forum and the G-11 will focus on several issues pertaining to interests of the Middle Eastern and Lower Middle-Income Countries (G-11).  

This year’s Forum and Summit, which is to be attended by over 1,200 Business Leaders and Governmental officials, include Heads of States from 79 countries. Several Heads of States outside the region “Middle East” will also participate at this year’s events. 

With the post global economic crisis looming, the Forum plays a vital role in the revival of economies of respective nations.

President Rajapaksa is expected to focus on many issues concerning economic, social and other spheres related to Sri Lanka as well as other countries of the South Asian region. 

During his visit, the President will hold bilateral discussions with several leaders of participating countries. 

The Sri Lankan delegation comprises Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rohitha Bogollagama, Secretary to the President Lalith Weerathunga,  Advisor to the President, A.H.M.M. Azwer, Director General/Middle East, Abdul A. Azeez, Coordinating Secretary (Foreign Affairs) to the President, Sajin Vass Gunawardena, Chief of Protocol, S.S. Ganegama Arachchi.
