Defence ministry denies "hospital attack" PDF Print E-mail

Sri Lanka Defence ministry vehemently denied the fabricated news item carried on some international media and pro-LTTE websites alleging the security forces shelled at a hospital inside the "Civilian Safe Zone" (CSZ), killing at least 45 civilians, according to LTTE and alleged hospital sources.

While the Sri Lankan security forces manoeuvring on the final phase of their mission to rescue thousands of innocent Tamil civilians forcibly held by the terrorists in CSZ, the media sympathetic to the terrorists once again have misinformed the international community with another fabricated story as did recently.

"This is another deliberate attempt made by the LTTE terrorists and its propaganda machinery to tarnish the image of the security forces" military spokesperson Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said.

Despite the pro-LTTE allegations level against security forces, the Sri Lanka Army, one of the most responsible and professional forces, firmly asserts that it would continue its rescue operation with precision and offering maximum protection to entrapped civilians in the remaining patch of land and to rid the country from a world's most ruthless terrorist outfit.
