 Air Force spokesman Wing Commander Janaka Nanayakkara said the Air Force on its humanitarian mission airlifted around 150 metric tons of essential food items and instant foods for the currently rescued civilians from the No Fire Zone.

He said the Air Force is committed day and night to carry out their contribution to reach cooked and other essential food items donated by organizations, companies, business communities and individuals to the displaced civilians in the Vanni.  

“Air lifting is the fastest and easiest way to reach the essential and instant food items for the displaced civilians in Kilinochchi.  

The Air Force is committed to carry out this task round the clock. We have air lifted in excess of 150 mt of cooked and other essential items to the IDPs from Thursday to Friday”, he added.  

The food items including cooked food, bakery items, dairy milk, bottled water, instant food items, etc. were air lifted from Ratmalana to Anuradhapura, from Anuradhapura to Vavuniya and from Vavuniya to Kilincochchi.
