Over 1,200 metric tonnes of essential food items have been shipped for the civilian polity in the High Security Zones of Mullaitivu and Pudumathalan from the Trincomalee harbour yesterday.

These essentials such as rice, flour, sugar, dhal and soya meat have been transported by the ship Thirupathi, Resident Manager of the Trincomalee Ports Authority, Nimal Jayatissa, said.

The staff of the Port Authority and the Navy have loaded these essentials within the last two days on the directives of the Commissioner General of Essential Services S.B. Divarathna. These goods are now to be handed over to the Mullaitivu GA.
