MRS ANOMA FONSEKA, President Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) and the tower of strength behind Army Commander, Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka, as his beloved wife and mother, not only for her own children, but also for all War Heroes, was honoured conferring her the title “Sandamadala”.

The ‘Sandamadala’ conferment for 2007, chosen based on readers’ preferential votes of the women’s newspaper Navaliya in its citation said, Mrs. Anoma Fonseka, despite being the housewife to a most responsible husband as well as facilitating all his work and commitments for the country, while without getting a glimpse of his glory unto her career, has conducted herself, as mother for all soldiers in the Army and War Heroes with compassion and loving-kindness, and she therefore qualifies for the conferment of this special title at a time when the country is in a critical juncture of our history.

 “At present Mrs. Fonseka, you are the most attractive Woman of the Year-2007,” the citation added.Mrs. Malani Fonseka, Mrs. Renuka Balasooriya and Mrs. Anoma Fonseka were among the most popular other nominees for the Navaliya contest, conducted in cooperation with Vendol Lanka Company Ltd. Mrs. Anoma Fonseka has finally emerged victorious in the contest.

Mrs Anoma Fonseka was earlier conferred “Shasana Mamaka”, “Deshabimani” and “Diriya Matha” honorary titles in appreciation of her dedication and contribution to the country. The ceremony in connection with the “Sandamadala” conferment was held at the BMICH last Saturday (26). Minister Kumara Welgama presented the parchment of the title to Mrs. Fonseka on the occasion.
