Dilan Perera was addressing a public rally in the Trincomalee town yesterday, presided by Parliamentarian Basil Rajapakse, it was organised to ensure the victory of the Freedom Alliance at the Provincial poll.

Parliamentarian Basil Rajapakse, in his address opined that the President decided to conduct the polls to entrust power to the Province, as the Eastern civilians are the proper inheritors of the area. However, he accused that the United National Party and the Muslim Congress were engaged in an untiring effort to re-merge the North and East.  

Mr. Rajapakse said Sambandan respects democracy. He should not become an LTTE stooge.  He is a veteran democratic politician.   He invited Sambandan to join the government at a time when the lives of the Eastern Tamils were to be reawakened and unity of all communities ensured.  He also reminded that freedom will be assured to all communities and religions.
