Army Chief says North will be liberated from terrorists this year PDF Print E-mail

 Army Chief Lt. Gen. Sarath Fonseka has emphasised that the North will be liberated from the terrorists this year, and civilian life established.

 

The Army Chief said the innocent people yearning for peace are confident that their dream would soon become a reality. He called upon the Army personnel to make up their minds to fulfill this wish.

The gallant soldiers created the positive environment prevailing in the country at present. Therefore, they earn accolades from the entire population. The nation appreciates the commitment displayed by the Army in liberating the entire East from the terrorists, last year.

The Army Commander opined that their determination should be to liberate the North from the LTTE terrorists and free the people encountering hardships. He remembered all security forces personnel who made supreme sacrifices in action.

The Army Commander made these references participating in a special ceremony organised to extend greetings to the members of the Army and their families for the National New Year. He expressed his gratitude to all members of the Army, engaged in operations in the North. President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit Anoma Fonseka was also present. Lt. Gen. Fonseka visited the Army Hospital and inquired into the well being of the soldiers receiving treatment.
