Political analyst Mohan Samaranayake will deliver the keynote address. Cuban Ambassador in Sri Lanka Nirsia Castro Guevara will be the Guest of Honour. Ministers Dinesh Gunawardena, Tissa Vitharana and Presidential Advisor Vasudeva Nanayakkara are expected to address the gathering followed by a musical show. Then Sri Lankan Government led by former Prime Minister S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike recognised revolutionary Cuba just hours after the declaration of revolutionary triumph on January 01, 1959. The Cuban Government in reciprocation sent a strong delegation led by Che Guevara to Sri Lanka to look into possibility of strengthening ties between the two countries. Since then relations between the two countries have developed in all vital fields. Cuba has achieved massive development despite the economic blockade imposed by the United States.Courtesy:southasianmedia.net |
