With the recent cost increase of 43% in electricity and inflation recording a high of 28.2% in June, organizations must be lean in today’s business world. When an organization is lean, it can drive productivity and make quicker changes in a volatile market place that will result in a stronger contribution to the bottom line. This strong bottom line can lead to investments in emerging areas like the Eastern province of the country, that can lead to Peace due to livelihood development.

Wanni Liberation Operation continues; 25 terrorists killed, 15 wounded in yesterday's clashes PDF Print E-mail

 Security forces personnel moving further towards LTTE held areas inflicting heavy damages to the enemy despite terror resistance. According to the military report received from the battle front, 25 LTTE terrorists were killed 10 suffered injuries and 5 reportedly either killed or wounded (in addition to two incidents in Jaffna and Welioya areas reported on defence.lk, due to the intense gun battle reported in Vavuniya and Welioya fronts yesterday, 10 August.

As we advance into the 21st century, in an intensely complex international and domestic environment, the challenges confronting the Foreign Service today are complex and daunting. The country will quite rightly demand more of our foreign service. We are being required to produce results and to generate returns for the investment that the country makes on us, especially in the key policy areas. The Foreign Service must, in today's circumstances, be in forefront of those whose task it is to counter the consequences of perceptions generated internationally.
