France’s biggest departmental store Carrfour has taken steps to introduce Sri Lankan tea in its chain of super markets across the country. The official inauguration of Sri Lankan tea promotion was held on Friday (April 18) at the Carrfour at Auteuil in prestigious Paris 16 area with the participation of Carrfour (Auteuil) Director Daniel Kalache, Sri lankan Ambassador Chitranganee Wagiswara, Commercial Secretary Chandima Kiriwandala and Sri Lanka Tourism Director Ruvan de Alwis. |

Sri Lanka’s most Venerable Buddhist Mahanayake’s invoked blessings on the newly appointed Chief Minister (CM) of eastern province on Sunday.CM Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan visited Kandy to get blessings from Mahanayake theros of Malwatta and Asgiriya chapters of the Siyam Maha Nikaya. Invoking blessings, Asgiriya Mahanayake Udugama Sri Buddharakkhitha thero commended the CM for joining democratic process leaving the arms behind. |

COLOMBO: A defiant Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake Saturday insisted that the Western World should stay out of Sri Lanka’s internal issues. Addressing a seminar organised by the Pakistani High Commission at the BMICH, Wickremanayake said that Sri Lanka had more trusted friends like Pakistan and therefore did not need to bow down to the West, which he said wanted the island to dance like a puppet.
