An Explosion occurred in side the Colombo-Panadura train while it reaching to the Dehiwala railway station short while ago, 26 May.

According to the available information the explosion took place around 4.55 p.m and the victims were being rushed to the hospitals.

COLOMBO: The death of “Brigadier” Balraj, one of the Special Commanders of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) of a heart attack somewhere in the Wanni on Tuesday was a major blow to the rebel group already short of top commanders.

Sri Lanka co-sponsors draft UN resolution on impact of global food crisis on human rights PDF Print E-mail

 Sri Lanka was one of 34 UN Member states that co-sponsored a draft UN resolution calling upon States to ensure the realization of the right to food as an essential human rights objective, and to consider the review of any policy or measure which could have a negative impact on the realization of that right.

The SLDF unreservedly condemns the LTTE for the brutal assassination of Ms. Maheswary Velautham PDF Print E-mail

Maheswary Velautham was killed in a hail of bullets fired at point blank range by LTTE gunmen when she was caring for her bedridden ailing mother in her home village in Navundil in northern Jaffna in the presence of her family members. Writ all over this cruel episode of murder, and the manner and circumstances in which it was carried is not an iota of the self-proclaimed heroism of the LTTE, but its unrivalled depravity and cowardice.
