 The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stands by its statement that there has been a marked improvement in the human rights situation in Sri Lanka over the past year, as a result of the measures implemented by the Government. It is noted that the recent statement by the ICRC does not contradict this central assertion of a downward trend.

 Colombo High Court Judge Kumuduni Wickramasinghe yesterday issued notice on LTTE Leader Velupillei Prabhakaran, LTTE Intelligence Wing Leader Pottu Amman, Charles Master and Komadee Manimekala in connection with the assassination of former Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar.

Mrs. Violet Wickremasinghe's funeral tomorrow PDF Print E-mail

 COLOMBO: The funeral of Violet Wickremasinghe, mother of First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa, will be held tomorrow at the General Cemetery, Kanatte. She passed away at a private hospital in Colombo on Sunday.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa paid his last respects to his mother-in-law yesterday.
