The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stands by its statement that there has been a marked improvement in the human rights situation in Sri Lanka over the past year, as a result of the measures implemented by the Government. It is noted that the recent statement by the ICRC does not contradict this central assertion of a downward trend. |

COLOMBO: The funeral of Violet Wickremasinghe, mother of First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa, will be held tomorrow at the General Cemetery, Kanatte. She passed away at a private hospital in Colombo on Sunday.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa paid his last respects to his mother-in-law yesterday. |
